Born in Lubbock Texas, Jody studied painting under Daniel Greene and Emily Guthrie Smith. She values most the education she received from her mother, artist Conny Martin, who taught her classical drawing and contemporary design.
She is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and a Master Circle member of the International Association of Pastel Societies. She has won awards in national and international shows, including the Bronze Award in the Pastel 100, Outstanding Pastel in the international Bold Brush Contest, 2nd Place and Best Portrait/Figure award in the Plein Air Salon International Competition.
Jody’s work has been published in Pastel Journal, Southwest Art, Plein Aire, and Practique des Arts magazines, as well as Strokes of Genius by North Light, and Richeson75 International books.
Jody lives with her husband, Jim, in Kyle, Texas, where they enjoy their six grandchildren, the subject of many of Jody’s paintings, and their free-range box turtles.
