Christine (Mira) Vitarello

Christine (Mira) Vitarello is a Ridgefield, Connecticut–based visual artist specializing in soft pastels. Her work spans emotive portraits, atmospheric landscapes, and intimate still lifes, drawing inspiration from everyday surroundings and treasured personal moments. Though she has worked in oil, acrylic, watercolor, printmaking, and collage, she discovered her true artistic home in soft pastel—where her impressionistic sensibility and love of color fully emerged.

Christine holds a BFA in Communication Design from Pratt Institute and an MA in Art Education from the College of New Rochelle. An award-winning artist and Signature Member of the Connecticut Pastel Society, her work has been collected internationally, and she remains an active and supportive member of the regional arts community.

In addition to maintaining a dedicated daily studio practice, Christine is an experienced workshop designer and educator. She has developed and led programs for artists at all levels and has presented as a lecturer to national art education organizations, where she specializes in mentoring and training art educators. Her teaching style is warm, organized, and highly accessible, emphasizing both technical skill and personal creative exploration.

At the heart of her practice—whether painting or teaching—is a belief in the importance of beauty, story, and connection. She is passionate about guiding others in discovering their own artistic voice, engaging with their inner creativity, and finding joy in the act of making art.
